Uh…yeah. They haven’t updated my HIGHLY erroneous bio in—check THIS out—20+ years. It’s absolutely frustrating to keep finding myself classified as a Gospel artist and compared to people like Kim Burrell, who I happen to think is incredibly gifted but…NOT. ANYTHING. LIKE. ME! Seriously. I honestly believe they’ve cost me sales and potential new listeners. AMG’s information gets funneled into places like iTunes and eMusic and I spend a ridiculous amount of time chasing it down to try to make a living. There’s no human contact, no idea of when corrections will be implemented (I’m going on 3 years now)…Can you tell I’m pissed? ‘Sorry. Thanks for letting me vent. As you were.

I never saw the video (and sounds like I may not want to) but I loved the song. It was so sad, but it was still good…and yes, it brings back memories of when we’d hear it on the radio.

Hey, guys. I guess it’s been a while since this was all posted but: WTF is the point? You all may be able to articulate your thoughts and opinions effectively but I have something to advise you with: Nobody cares. Nobody fuckin’ cares. The guy who wrote this article felt a need to convey his thoughts about Mat Kearney and everyone who replied felt a need to argue with him about it, quite immaturely, I might add. The end is all the same: its all buried in the internet forever and ever and the only reason I found this review is from searching google “Mat kearney sucks ass.” So say what you want, I don’t care. And neither should you.

I appreciate you reading and commenting on the piece, but I’m just not going to put in the effort to track down everyone listed in the credits of the single for the sake of solving this puzzle. I like ten thousand songs, maybe more, and “Some Guys Have All the Luck” is only one of them. You’ll understand that I’m not going to devote my life to it.

I also grew listening 2 this song. I’m 40 and I’m also from Louisiana but I live in Zachary now but grew up in Baton Rouge. Our radio stations played this song & they continue 2 play this song 4 the X-mas holidays now.

Santa Claus is a Black Man was a very popular xmas song growing up in Helena,AR. The song brings back memories of the holiday at grandma’s house with all my cousins, this for sure is a classic for me and my family.

i am 41 years old and from Indiana. This song has always been a Christmas favorite and part of our tradition. i even have my children hooked on it! living in KY as well as growing up between the two state i have never heard it on radio but when in Indiana being home for the holidays its always on the radio near Christmas. Friends and co workers in Kentucky swear i am crazy and making it up..but Santa is a black man will be a song full of memories as long as i live!

This song was and still is a huge part of Christmas for the Black community here in Indiana. I grew up to this song 40+ years ago and it is still being played on the air now.

Again, Melvin was the lead singer/guitar player for the Crash Street Kids. They played Duffy’s, Union Bar, some place in Hopkins (which I cannot remember), Cabooze (cool setup for them there) and the list goes on. They had Randall Pye on drums and Gary Snow on bass (Gary passed away a few years back).

Their road crew was the best; Tom Kelly (not the Twins manager obviously) and a couple twins named Randy and Rodney (can’t remember their last name though).

Melvin was a “Who junkie.” He loved Townsend almost to a fault. Hence his Pete Townsend haircut, black Gibson SG and associated leaps, windmills and “ass-shakes”

I used to hang out with them alot as we all shared a love of British “Mod” rock, Special Export beer (“green death”) and loud guitars. All for now.

I know this song well I grew up listening to this song in Savannah Ga about 30yrs ago
